Security Engineer

Security Engineer – 6–12-month contract – Fully Remote – Australia/US times

My Customer is looking for a skilled Security Engineer to join our global security operations team. You will be responsible for monitoring security alerts, investigating incidents, and responding to potential threats to ensure our systems remain secure.

This role requires working Australian or US hours to support our offices in these regions.

Australian Hours: 1am – 9am GMT

US Hours: 3pm – 11pm GMT

Key Responsibilities of the Security Engineer:

  • Monitor & Investigate: Receive, assess, and respond to security notifications/escalations from monitoring tools (SIEM, Microsoft Defender, etc.).
  • Incident Response: Triage and analyse security incidents, including malware infections, phishing attempts, and cloud-based attacks.
  • Threat Detection & Prevention: Proactively identify vulnerabilities and mitigate security risks.
  • Cloud & Endpoint Security: Work with Microsoft Defender and other tools to protect cloud environments and endpoints.
  • Collaboration: Work with internal IT and security teams to improve security posture and response times.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience in incident response and security monitoring.
  • Proficiency with SIEM platforms and Microsoft Defender.
  • Knowledge of anti-virus and malware analysis.
  • Experience with Azure security controls and cloud incident management.
  • Ability to investigate and respond to phishing attacks, cloud security breaches, and malware incidents.
  • Exposure to Linux security is beneficial.
