Case Study: UK IT Recruitment Strategy Support For A Multi-Office Insurance Firm
Roles filled
Internal teams recruited for
An insurance company with offices across the UK needed support in hiring tech talent with sector-specific experience in order to bring outsourced IT services in-house.
The client’s challenge…
This insurance company began working with our team over 3 years ago when they required specialist IT recruitment support. The organisation was looking to expand their internal IT resources and to bring several outsourced IT solutions in-house. However, their internal hiring team had previously experienced challenges in sourcing IT professionals with the right technical skill sets and sector-specific experience to support this business goal.
The company had imminent plans to bring several functions in-house from a third-party supplier, including QA, DevOps, and Data teams. These new tech teams needed to be fully operational before the contract with the third-party IT supplier ended. This meant that deadlines were tight and there was significant pressure to ensure that the teams were onboarded and operating at full capacity in time.
Our actions…
When the client shared their plans to bring several outsourced functions in-house, we supported them with the high-volume hiring needed across 3 new internal tech teams.
The process involved building out these teams within a short timeframe before the contract with their outsourced suppliers ended. Therefore, the recruitment process required close management as we balanced securing professionals with the right technical skills and sector experience, whilst ensuring that they were aligned with both the wider organisational culture and the rapidly growing team culture.
Having cultural and team alignment was pivotal, so we managed this process by organising multiple interview and assessment days back-to-back. This provided the client with the opportunity to interview and approve new hires efficiently, while also giving candidates valuable insights into the organisation.
Outside these specific high-volume projects, we have also supported the client’s ad hoc IT recruitment needs. Through our long-term partnership, we have gained an understanding of the skillsets the client regularly requires and have developed tailored talent ecosystems within our database for them.
When a candidate submits a CV with relevant experience and is located near the client’s offices, they are immediately earmarked for the organisation’s dedicated talent pool. This allows us to be proactive with the workforce needs of this client.
The outcomes…
We successfully built fully functioning internal tech teams across QA, Development and Data in the timescale required, to provide essential in-house support and resources, whilst reducing reliance on outsourced IT services.
Furthermore, as a result of our proactive efforts in creating bespoke talent pools for this client, so far, we have secured 18 professionals in total across Software Development, Penetration Testing, Data and AWS Specialists.
Over our 3-year partnership, we have become a trusted recruitment partner to this client. Due to our extensive dedicated talent pools, we are well-positioned to support this client with their evolving tech needs and future projects.
"With strict deadlines and multiple teams to build, careful management and speed were vital..."
High-volume hiring in a short timeframe is not easy, but my team were able to carry this out successfully and effectively through proactive planning and leveraging our deep talent networks.
